Hi! my name is Angela and I think everyone of these faces behind concrete walls is like a flower.
Trapped inside chain-link fences topped with razor wire.
I prefer to focus on the beauty of the women and their determination to grow.
My passion, pre-prison was photography. But once inside I had to learn a new way to express my creativity.
I took a drawing class and with the first stroke of the charcoal I was in love.
I’ve spent years practicing and developing my skills.
Now I do portraits to help ladies in prison stay connected to with their loved ones at home or to tell the truth about how prison affects us.
I also love to teach, whether it be English to my Spanish speaking friends, math to GED students making big changes in their lives, or how to knot or crochet, to someone interested in new skills.
I enjoy all things foreign: music, languages, literature, art, culture, etc.
I hope to one day explore all the places I’ve learned about so I can experience them personally.
I look forward to making new friends and exploring their own personal evaluations.
Every journey begins with the first step!
